Trophy Addict Story

My name is Nate Surratt. I took this photo a few years back that got me thinking about developing the TROPHYSOCK. I was raised a “backyard” hunter my entire life that was passed down many generations, which is now a legacy that my children will continue during their lives.

I was on horseback on a backcountry Mule Deer hunt in Wyoming for a week. My father-in-law and I decided for the last couple days  of the hunt to go back about 10 miles into a remote part of the hunting unit. We found where we would call camp for the next couple nights. We started to glass and found a couple nice deer, worthy of chasing. My father-in-law put a nice sneak on a very respectable buck and ended up harvesting.

The next day was the last day prior to our journey back home to Utah. That next morning I got my gear ready and went off hiking a couple canyons due north from camp. I arrived to a canyon that had spectacular views that were picture worthy. I spotted a small two point buck on the edge of a patch of pines just feeding. I sat and watched as another two point and small three point worked their way out in the the open feeding to the next group of trees. I sat and watched these bucks for about an hour before I decided to get up and move to another canyon. As I got  up and started to work my way down into the bowl on an open mountain side I could barely see part of another deer working its way out of the pines. I hurried and sat down and watched this buck work his way to the open field. The buck was a nice four point and I decided to take the shot.

I took some selfies with myself and the buck and got the buck ready to load on the horses. We put the head on top of the pack saddle, trying to make the buck ride to minimize blood getting onto my gear. It was impossible to do and I found myself saying there has to be a better way to get these trophies out?

I looked at this picture many times wondering and thinking of different ways to package animals to assist hunters in an easy and effective way. After multiple years of prototypes and many hours changing and drawing, trying to come up with the best solution. We have now made it! The TROPHYSOCK from Trophy Addict has arrived And pleased to help assist everyone with the love of hunting to start and/or continue their own legacy.
